For everyone. The inbox lists notices from the last seven days. Older ones are kept but are no longer listed.
Steps
- Select the bell in the top bar and choose View all, or open your inbox from the menu.
- Read the heading Notifications. It says how many are unread.
- Start with Needs you. These are notices that wait for something from you.
- Select a notice to go straight to the page it is about. Opening it does the work, not the notice.
- Press Mark read once you have dealt with it. Mark all read clears everything at once.
- Use the filter chips above the list to show one kind of notice. For your information and Already read come after.
If it goes wrong
- If the inbox looks empty, it only covers the last seven days. Older notices are kept.
- If you deleted a safeguarding alert by mistake, tell your DSL so they can check the record.
- If a notice never arrives, check your own email choices under Settings, Notifications.
How it links together
Notices are created when something happens elsewhere, such as a write-up sent back or a consent expiring. Opening one takes you to that page, and doing the work is what clears the underlying job.
Your choices for which notices you get are on the notifications settings. See the guides on managing notifications and on your tasks.

How the inbox is organised
The list is split into three bands. Needs you holds notices that wait for an action from you. For your information holds news. Already read holds what you have handled.
Already read notices are folded away. Press the line that says how many to show them. Each notice says what kind it is and when it arrived.
Filter by kind
When you have more than one kind of notice, a row of chips appears above the list. Each chip shows how many notices of that kind you have. Press one to see only those.
Examples are a write-up sent back to you, a plan ready to countersign, an expiring consent and a risk assessment that is due.
Grouped notices
If many notices of one kind arrive together, they are folded into one line that says how many there are. Open the line to read them one by one, or press Mark all to clear the group.
Marking notices read
Marking a notice read only tidies your list. It does not complete the work behind it. A write-up sent back is still sent back until you fix it.
On a phone or tablet you can also swipe a notice sideways to mark it read.
Deleting a notice
Each notice has a bin button. For a safeguarding alert the button asks Confirm delete? first, because these alerts matter. Deleting only removes the notice from your list.
Week plan approvals
If you are a DSL or an admin, a panel called Week plan approvals sits above your notices. It lists week plans waiting for your approval, with a note of the estimated expenses.
You can approve a plan so it moves on to a manager, or return it with a reason. If the queue is empty, the panel says so.
Text messages
If your organisation uses text messages, a conversation opens on its own page. See the guide on replying to a text message.
