Use Courses and awards

Follow every course, unit and certificate across the service, spot who is stuck and download the overview.

Checked against the screens:

Every organisation can choose its own words for the people and roles it works with. When you are signed in, this guide uses your organisation’s words. Otherwise it uses the product’s own.

For managers and admins. A young person's own courses are on their record, in the Learning plan tab.

Steps

  1. Open Courses & awards from the menu. It opens on the Overview.
  2. Choose the area and the year in the toolbar. The small numbers above the table are links that apply a filter.
  3. Use Needs attention or the search box to narrow the rows.
  4. Read each row: courses, units, attendance, engagement, last visit and latest update.
  5. Press Update on a row to open that person's education in full.
  6. Use the other tabs for units, claims, Functional Skills, Junior Duke and other awards.
  7. Press Download for a spreadsheet of the overview.

If it goes wrong

  • If the board shows a reason and a retry, a read failed. It will not show an empty board in its place.
  • If the spreadsheet fails, nothing has changed. Check your connection and try again.
  • If a row is missing, a filter or the area choice may be hiding it.

How it links together

The board is worked out from each young person's record: their courses and units, their attendance, their engagement ratings and their visits. Update a unit and the overview, the claims and the certificate counts all follow.

The tabs

  • Overview: every young person's courses, units, attendance, engagement and latest update.
  • AQA units: every unit by stage, from working on it to certificate given.
  • AQA claims: what is in each claim, what has been sent and the half-term targets.
  • Functional Skills: the level each person started at and is at now.
  • Junior Duke: challenges done out of those needed, and the certificates.
  • DofE, Employability & more: courses with sections or milestones, their evidence and certificates.
  • Insights: stuck work, progress against target and a printable report for an area.

The numbers above the table

They count people with no course under way, no visit this half term, no recent update or no progress. One also counts certificates waiting to be given out. Pressing one filters the table to those rows.

Sharing a view

The tab, year, areas and filters are kept in the address. Copy it to send a colleague the same view. Older bookmarks still land in the right tab.

Who sees it

Only managers and admins. Others are told so and pointed to the Learning plan tab on the record.
