Edit the learning-style questions

Add, reword, reorder, archive and restore the prompts in your organisation's learning-style questionnaire.

Checked against the screens:

Every organisation can choose its own words for the people and roles it works with. When you are signed in, this guide uses your organisation’s words. Otherwise it uses the product’s own.

This page is for managers and admins, in their own view. If you are viewing as someone else, the page asks you to switch back first.

Steps

  1. On Questionnaires, press Learning-style questions. The page is headed Learning-style questions.
  2. To add one, use Add a question. Choose the Axis, type the Prompt, and set the Sort order.
  3. Press Add question. It appears in the list below.
  4. To change one, edit its axis, prompt or order in its card and press Save question.
  5. To stop using one, press Archive question. Its card says Archived.
  6. To bring it back, press Restore question.

If it goes wrong

  • If a message says the prompt is too short or long, keep it between 3 and 500 characters.
  • If a message says the change could not be confirmed, reload the page and check the list before you try again.
  • If the page asks you to choose your own view, switch back from viewing as someone else.

What these questions are

They are the prompts a young person answers in your organisation's learning-style questionnaire. Each prompt belongs to one of four scoring axes. The answers show how a young person likes to learn.

The four axes

  • Visual: learning by seeing, such as pictures and diagrams.
  • Auditory: learning by listening and talking.
  • Reading / writing: learning through text.
  • Kinaesthetic: learning by doing and moving.

The four axes stay the same for every organisation. Only the prompts are yours to change.

Order

Sort order is a whole number. Lower numbers come first within an axis. New questions start at 100, so they sit after the existing ones until you change it.

Archiving

Archiving takes a question out of use but keeps the answers already given to it. Restore it any time. Use archive rather than rewriting a prompt into something different, so past answers still make sense.

Your organisation only

Changes apply to your organisation only. Other organisations keep their own prompts.

How it links together

From prompt to profileYour prompts produce each child's learning-style result.

  4. RecordResult kept

The four axes are fixed, so results stay comparable. Prompts you add or archive change what future questionnaires ask. Answers already given are kept. Changes apply only to your organisation.

Questions people ask

Can I add a fifth axis?

No. The four axes are fixed. You can add as many prompts as you like within them.

What happens to old answers if I archive a question?

They are kept. Archived questions keep their existing answers.

Why can't I save a prompt?

A prompt must be between 3 and 500 characters. Shorten or lengthen it and save again.

Why does the page say to choose my own view?

You may be viewing as someone else. Switch back to your own manager or admin view to edit.

How do I put questions in order?

Give each a sort order number. Lower numbers come first.
