For anyone who works with young people. If in doubt, raise it.
Steps
- Open the young person's record. Pick them from your people on Home, or use Search in the left menu.
- Press Raise concern at the top of the record.
- If you are asked What kind of record is this?, choose one. The list is your organisation's own.
- Under How serious is it? choose Level 1 — note, Level 2 — watch, Level 3 — concern or Level 4 — immediate risk.
- Under What did you see, hear or get told? write what happened, as it happened. A sentence is enough to start.
- Level 3 and level 4 need a Follow-up date. Pick when it should next be looked at.
- Press Raise the concern. It goes to the child's DSL, or to your organisation's safeguarding queue if they have none.
- Then add the detail in What happened, People, place and times and Your view and what you did. Put your opinion in the last one. Check it all, then press Confirm my account. That locks it.
If it goes wrong
- If the child may be in danger now, phone your DSL or call 999 first.
- Until you press Raise the concern, nobody has been told. What you typed is kept on this device, unless the page says it cannot be.
- If it will not save, press it again. That will not make a second concern. If it still will not save, phone your DSL.
- If you closed the page by mistake, press Raise concern again and then Restore to bring back your words.
- You cannot change what you first wrote. Add to it in the steps that follow.
